Plot Synopsis: The story follows Lee Jae-yoon, a soldier in Seoul's rooftop defense platoon, and his girlfriend Kang Young-ju, who is embarking on a new career. Their relationship faces challenges due to Jae-yoon's overprotectiveness and Young-ju's new job, leading to a breakup. Amidst their personal struggles, a sudden zombie outbreak sweeps through Seoul, prompting Young-ju to navigate the perilous streets in search of reconciliation with Jae-yoon.
Directed by Yoon Sung-hyun, known for "Bleak Night" (2010) and "Time to Hunt" (2020), "Newtopia" is adapted from the novel "Influenza" by Han Sang-woon. The screenplay is co-written by Han Jin-won, acclaimed for "Parasite" (2019), and Ji Ho-jin, known for "A Shop for Killers" (2024).
